Nelson Mandela Bay Municipality Acting City Manager Luvuyo Magalela welcomed the appointment of seasoned municipal housing specialist, Mr Tabiso Mfeya, as the municipality’s newly appointed Executive Director of Human Settlements.
Mfeya, who honed his skills in human settlements at the City of Johannesburg, the Sol Plaatje Municipality and the Stellenbosch Municipality among others, starts his tenure today.
“The advent of the coronavirus pandemic not only caught governments unawares, it highlighted the need for improved services for the most vulnerable. The restoration of human dignity by providing decent housing for the poor, innovative spatial planning and urban renewal are just some of the areas that require renewed focus and dedication.
“Mr Mfeya has a wealth of experience in the human settlements environment on an executive management level and we have high expectations that his appointment will augur well for our institution.
“I would like to wish him well on behalf of the municipal administration and welcome him on our team,” Mr Magalela said.
Mfeya obtained a Masters Degree in Urban and Regional Planning at the University of Kwazulu-Natal, served as the Director of Human Settlements and Property Management at the Stellenbosch Municipality, Housing Manager at the Sol Plaatje Municipality and was a Programme Manager at the City of Johannesburg.
